Plan ahead as always: It is a good idea to bring a portable external hard drive (one that does not need external power) you can use for storage and backup – especially if your laptop has a smaller hard drive
Stay organized:
- Organize items into folders by location/subject/topic – whatever makes sense
- Consider keeping notes either as you go or at least at the end of each day
- If you are taking a video consider just saying a few thoughts about why the video is important to you, are there things about the place/moment you want to remember? You can just add those as notes in the video itself.
- You can also use an audio app such as Voice Recorder on iOS to record thoughts along the way.
- Keep it simple and quick or else you won’t do it
Consider the Internet connection:
If you are in a location with a good internet connection you may want to consider saving your materials to the cloud using Microsoft OneDrive (1 TB available for Trinity Students), Dropbox, Google Drive etc. If you plan on using cloud storage make sure it is accessible form your location. For example, China blocks access to MS OneDrive. Again, we recommend using what you are most comfortable with.
