Come make your special 3D print or button for your friends and loved ones this Valentine’s Day. You can stop by the STA desk on Level 1 of the library during our open hours of Monday – Thursday, 11 am-5 pm, and Friday, 11 am-4 pm.
Follow the instructions below for these DIY activities and create something special for this Valentine’s Day! No experience necessary! Once you have decided on a print design or a button, the STAs will guide you step by step on how to use the equipment, and printing materials will be provided. This will be a perfect opportunity to explore your creative potential and get hands-on experience in digital art-making.
Valentine’s Day Buttons!
Making homemade buttons is really easy once you know how. In order to make a button at the STA Desk, you need to prepare the printed image that you want to convert into a button.
Make sure the image you have is the right size (2×2 inch circle) for the button casing and then print it out on regular paper. For self-designed buttons, you can use Canva to create the 2×2 inch circle using your favorite images.
When you have finished preparing your design, bring the print to the STA Help Desk during our office hours and we will help you make a button!
Valentine’s Day 3D Prints!
If you want to create a fun handmade gift for your special friends, 3D prints are the way to go! From small figures to a big item such as a flower pot, you can print out something based on your preferences. Note that large items can take many hours to print, so plan.
You will need to pick something you’d like to print in advance. Start by exploring models that are available in Thingiverse.com or other websites that offer free 3D print files.
Download the .stl file and then email it to the STA Desk at sta-help@trincoll.edu. They will then contact you directly to set up a time to stop by the desk so you can help set up the 3D print.
After the print is finished, they will email you to stop by and pick it up so that you can give it to your special friend!
